About this course

This online BA (Hons) Business Management (Tourism) combines core business knowledge with tourism-focused study. It is designed for learners who want to understand how tourism organisations, destinations and visitor services are managed, while building practical skills in marketing, finance, people management, data and business development.

You will explore the tourism sector from operational and strategic perspectives, including destination management, visitor attractions, accommodation services and tourism marketing. The course also considers sustainable, ethical and international tourism management, helping you examine how tourism businesses and destinations respond to changing visitor expectations and wider global issues.

Later study develops your understanding of tourism crisis management, tourism trends and futures, business transformation, governance, law and ethics. An independent study allows you to investigate a subject of particular interest in greater depth.

The course is available online over three years full-time or three years or more part-time. An additional foundation year is also available.

Assessment

Assessment uses a range of practical and written formats, including individual reports, case study analyses, group presentations and independent assignments. You may also complete podcasts, videos, infographics, consultancy reports, marketing campaigns, posters, interviews and debate sessions.

Entry requirements

Applicants normally need two GCE A-level subjects or an equivalent qualification, plus GCSE passes at grade C or above in three subjects, or equivalent qualifications.

Applicants with at least two years of relevant work experience may be considered. A personal statement, references and evidence of previous work experience are required.

English language requirements

Applicants normally need IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 80. An equivalent English-language qualification may also be accepted. Evidence of previous study in English, such as a letter confirming English as the medium of instruction, may be considered.
