BA (Hons) Criminology and Psychology with Foundation Year
This full-time blended BA (Hons) course combines criminology and psychology and includes a foundation year. At the UK study locations listed, the course is structured over four years. About this course
This BA (Hons) Criminology and Psychology with Foundation Year examines crime, criminal justice and human behaviour through the perspectives of both criminology and psychology. You will consider how crime is understood, represented and responded to, alongside psychological approaches to development, personality, behaviour, mental health and offending.
The foundation year is designed to prepare you for degree-level study. It covers academic skills, the social world, social justice, planning for future study and an investigation and innovation project. The later stages bring together criminological theory, criminal justice, social psychology and forensic psychology, with topics including prisons, youth crime, victimology, cyberpsychology and crimes of the powerful.
You will also develop research and professional-practice skills through work on case studies, field research and a final research project. The course may suit adults returning to education who want a structured route into studying criminology and psychology, including those without recent Level 3 study.

Assessment
Assessment includes assignments, essays, reports, presentations, case studies, portfolios of work, roleplay, interactive decision-making activities and a research proposal.
Entry requirements
Standard entry: a minimum of 45 Level 3 credits completed within the last three years, or an equivalent qualification.
Non-standard entry: a minimum of two years of appropriate and relevant work experience, or equivalent. You will need to provide a personal statement, references and evidence of previous work experience.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 80; or an equivalent qualification.
Evidence of previous study in English may also be accepted, such as a letter confirming that English was the medium of instruction.
