BSc (Hons) Business and Marketing with Foundation Year
This full-time Business and Marketing degree develops knowledge of core business functions alongside marketing, branding, consumer behaviour and digital marketing. It may suit adults returning to study who want to build academic, research and professional skills while preparing for marketing or wider business roles. A four-year route with a foundation year is available, alongside the three-year degree route.
About this course
This Business and Marketing degree combines a broad grounding in business with focused study of how organisations understand customers, build brands and plan marketing activity. You will explore business principles, economics, finance, human resources and legal aspects of business alongside consumer behaviour, digital marketing, marketing communications and branding.
As the course progresses, you will consider marketing strategy, market research methods and marketing metrics, while developing practical skills in communication, data handling, research and professional development. The undergraduate project provides an opportunity to apply your learning to a business context.
The full-time degree is available over three years. A four-year option includes a foundation year, which covers academic and professional skills, data, research, communication and an introduction to business before progressing to degree-level study.
What you will study
You will study business principles, economics for business, business finance, human resource management and legal aspects of business. Marketing-focused study includes principles and practices of marketing, marketing communications and branding, consumer behaviour, digital marketing, marketing strategy, market research methods and marketing metrics.

Assessment
Assessment includes coursework, group and activity-based assignments, exams, problem-solving activities, projects and presentations.
Entry requirements
Standard entry requires 96 UCAS Tariff points from three A Levels or an equivalent qualification, such as CCC at A Level.
Equivalent qualifications include the Irish Leaving Certificate (BBCCC), Scottish Highers (BBCCC), a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma with DMM in a related subject, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 24 points.
Applicants also need at least three GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths.
Foundation year entry requires a minimum of 40 UCAS Tariff points.
Applicants who meet either the foundation or standard entry criteria but have been out of study for five years must pass an academic interview.
Level 3 entry may be considered for applicants who do not meet the normal requirements but can demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and potential through relevant work experience and professional development.
For non-standard mature entry (age 21+), applicants need an Ofqual-recognised academic Level 3 qualification, or a Level 2 qualification in the intended field plus relevant work experience gained within the last five years. An academic interview is required.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 at Academic level, or an equivalent English language qualification.
Careers
The course may support progression into marketing and business roles across areas such as FMCG, financial services, telecommunications and tourism. Possible job titles include marketing executive, brand manager, account executive, digital marketing manager, advertising account manager, copywriter and market researcher.
