About this course
This four-year BSc (Hons) Business & Tourism Management course includes a foundation year and combines business management with the operational, commercial and social aspects of tourism. It is designed for students who want to understand how tourism organisations, destinations and hospitality businesses are managed.
The foundation year develops academic, communication and digital skills while introducing the tourist, the tourism industry and ethical awareness in tourism workplaces. You will then build knowledge of the business environment, organisational behaviour, finance, marketing, human resources and operations management, applying these areas to tourism settings.
Later study considers tourism impacts, sustainable development, contemporary issues, global strategic management, leadership and destination management. The course also develops research skills, leading to an independent project dissertation.

Assessment
Assessment includes formative and summative work, with written examinations, coursework, reports, portfolios, essays and presentations.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be aged 18 or over.
Standard entry requires a Level 3 qualification equivalent to 60 credits or 80 UCAS Tariff points, plus GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent CEFR B1. An interview assessment covers listening, speaking and writing.
Applicants aged 21 or over who do not meet the standard entry requirements may be considered if they can demonstrate willingness and commitment to the subject, together with relevant academic, professional or vocational experience. They must complete an interview assessment covering listening, speaking and writing, and achieve a minimum CEFR B1.
English language requirements
Applicants need GCSE English at grade 4/C or equivalent CEFR B1 English. Applicants aged 21 or over are assessed through an interview covering listening, speaking and writing, and must achieve at least CEFR B1.
Careers
This course may support progression into tourism, hospitality and business roles such as destination manager, resort executive, tourism officer, travel consultancy specialist, hotel group operations manager, hospitality manager, conference centre executive or event coordinator. It may also be relevant to B2B or B2C sales, operations management, project management, logistics and change leadership roles.
