BSc (Hons) Computing

BSc (Hons) Computing is a broad computing degree covering programming, web development, databases, networking, cloud computing, cyber security and data analytics. It may suit learners who want to build technical knowledge while developing skills in IT project management, systems design and responsible use of technology.

About this course

This computing degree develops broad technical knowledge alongside the planning, communication and professional skills used in IT work. You will build foundations in programming, web authoring, databases, operating systems, networking and security, then move into more advanced areas including cloud computing, data mining, information security management and web application development.

The course also considers how technology is designed and used. Topics such as human-computer interaction, systems analysis and design, computing ethics, quality and sustainability help you consider users, organisations and responsible technology practice. A final computing project provides an opportunity to bring together your learning in a substantial piece of work.

Available as a three-year blended course, with an online study option taking three years or more, this programme may suit adults seeking to develop practical computing skills for a range of technical and digital roles.
