BSc (Hons) Computing (Top-Up)
This BSc (Hons) Computing top-up course builds on relevant previous study in computing. It covers programming, web development, databases, cloud computing, cybersecurity and data analysis. It may suit students with a relevant HND or equivalent who want to develop practical technical skills alongside project, management and entrepreneurship knowledge.
About this course
This Computing top-up degree is designed for students with relevant prior higher education study who want to build towards a BSc (Hons) qualification. It combines practical development skills with areas of computing used to build, manage and secure digital systems.
You will explore programming, web application development, databases, cloud computing, information security and data analysis. Technical work includes creating database-backed web systems with PHP, MySQL and HTML/CSS, alongside Python for data science and data manipulation, mining and visualisation.
The course also considers the organisational side of technology through project work, technology entrepreneurship, IT project management and systems analysis. Study is available full-time over one year through blended learning, or part-time online over one year or more.

Assessment
Assessment uses hands-on activities, technical reports, analysis, case studies and scenario-based work.
Entry requirements
Applicants need a relevant HND or equivalent qualification that includes module content in web design, databases, programming, and computer systems and networking.
A personal statement demonstrating readiness to study the course may be required. References and evidence of relevant experience may also be requested.
English language requirements
English language requirements include IELTS 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 60–78 or an equivalent qualification. Evidence of previous study in English may also be accepted, including a letter confirming that English was the medium of instruction.
Students who require a UK visa need IELTS 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5, or an equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) result.
