BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting
This full-time Finance and Accounting degree is available as a three-year course or a four-year course with a foundation year. It is designed for students who want to build knowledge of accounting practice, finance and business decision-making. You will study financial reporting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, financial management, business law and strategy. The foundation year may suit those who need to strengthen their academic, digital and subject knowledge before beginning the degree.
About this course
This Finance and Accounting degree combines the principles of accounting, reporting and taxation with financial management, business law and strategy. You will explore how organisations record financial information, assess performance, manage finances and make decisions within legal and commercial frameworks.
The course includes financial accounting, management accounting, financial reporting, auditing and taxation, alongside business planning, sustainable business and corporate strategy. A major project in finance and accounting provides an opportunity to investigate a topic in greater depth.
A foundation-year route is available for students who would benefit from preparation before starting degree-level study. It covers accounting and finance foundations, academic study skills, data and digital skills, and personal and professional development.

Assessment
Assessment may include coursework, group and activity-based assignments, examinations, problem-solving activities, projects and presentations.
Entry requirements
Typical entry requirements include 96 UCAS Tariff points from three A levels, such as BCC; an Irish Leaving Certificate of BBCCC; Scottish Highers of BBCCC; a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at DMM in a business-related subject; or an International Baccalaureate Diploma with 24 points.
You will also need at least three GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths.
International applicants may be considered with GCE A levels from a recognised UK examination board, an International Baccalaureate Diploma with at least 24 points, a recognised university foundation course, or relevant qualifications gained in their home country. Country-specific requirements may apply.
For mature applicants, appropriate relevant work experience may be considered.
English language requirements
IELTS Academic 6.0, or an equivalent English language qualification.
Careers
The course may support progression into roles such as accounting technician, finance officer, tax adviser, forensic accountant, company secretary or stockbroker. It may also provide a foundation for further professional development towards areas including chartered accountancy, actuarial work or economics.
