BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting

This full-time Finance and Accounting degree combines accounting and financial subjects with business planning, law, economics and strategy. It covers financial accounting, reporting, taxation, auditing and financial management, and may suit adults returning to study who want to develop skills for finance- or accountancy-related careers. A four-year option with a foundation year is available for students who need additional preparation before starting degree-level modules.

About this course

This Finance and Accounting degree develops knowledge of how organisations record, report, manage and scrutinise financial information. You will study financial accounting, reporting, taxation, auditing and financial management alongside the business environment, economics, law, planning and strategy.

The course also considers accounting regulation and ethical practice in the accountancy profession. It is suitable for students who want to build a broad understanding of finance and accounting while developing practical academic, research, data and communication skills.

You can study full-time over three years, or take a four-year route with a foundation year. The foundation year provides additional preparation in academic and professional skills, communication, research and data skills before progressing to degree-level study. The course is accredited by ACCA.

Assessment

Assessment may include coursework, written and practical exams, in-class tests, assignments, presentations, projects, essays, reports and portfolios. You will also complete an undergraduate major project.

Entry requirements

For the three-year degree route, you need 104 tariff points. Level 3 subjects can be in any subject area.

You also need five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications, including English and Mathematics.

For the foundation year route, you need 48 tariff points.

English language requirements

For applicants with International or EU qualifications: IELTS 6.0 overall, or an accepted equivalent, with at least 5.5 in each component.
