BSc (Hons) Health and Care Management (Top-Up)

This BSc (Hons) Health and Care Management top-up is a one-year blended course for learners who have completed relevant Level 5 study in health or social care. An online option is available over one year or longer. You will study health planning, analytics, quality management, sustainability and project management, alongside an independent study in health and care management. It may suit those aiming to develop management and leadership skills for health and social care settings.

About this course

This one-year top-up degree is designed for learners with prior Level 5 study in health or social care who want to complete a BSc (Hons) qualification in health and care management.

The course examines how health and care services are planned, managed and improved. You will explore global health and sustainability, use health analytics to inform planning, and consider quality management in health and care systems. Project management and business analysis are also used to develop practical management and leadership skills.

An independent study allows you to investigate a health and care management topic in depth. The course may suit professionals and experienced learners seeking to progress towards management, service improvement or leadership-focused work in health and social care.

Assessment is through assignments, essays, presentations, case studies and portfolios of work.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold an HND in health or social care, or an equivalent qualification. Previous learning must be consistent with Level 5 study in functional areas including communication in health and social care, health and safety, personal and professional development, and working in partnership.

A personal statement must demonstrate your ability to study the course. References and evidence of relevant experience may also be requested.

English language requirements

Applicants can meet the English-language requirement with IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 60–78; or an equivalent English-language qualification. Evidence of previous study in English may also be accepted, including a letter confirming English was the medium of instruction.

Applicants requiring a UK visa must provide IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5, or an equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) result.
