About this course
This four-year blended degree includes a foundation year and explores how health and care services are planned, led, financed and improved. It is suited to people who want to build academic confidence before progressing to degree-level study, including those returning to education or using professional experience as part of their entry route.
The course considers the needs and experiences of service users alongside practical management issues. You will examine ethics, dignity and respect, health promotion, public health, resource planning, finance and quality management. Digital health leadership, health analytics and evidence-based practice are also covered, helping you understand how information and technology can inform planning and decision-making.
As the course progresses, you will develop leadership, communication, collaboration, project management and coaching skills. Topics such as global health, sustainability and planetary health place health and care management within wider social and environmental contexts.

Assessment
Assessment includes essays, a personal development plan, presentations, digital badges, reflections on practice, analysis reports and a podcast. You may also complete a resource for a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, a leadership consultancy report, a portfolio of finance tasks and calculations, and a critical case study review with CARS checklist analysis.
Entry requirements
Applicants need a minimum of 45 Level 3 credits completed within the last three years, or an equivalent qualification.
If you do not meet the academic requirements, your application may be considered if you have at least two years of professional work experience, supported by a CV and reference.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no element below 5.5.
Alternatively, evidence of previous study in English may be accepted, such as a letter confirming that English was the medium of instruction.
