BSc (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management with Foundation Year

This full-time blended BSc (Hons) degree runs over four years and includes a foundation year. It is suited to learners who want to build academic confidence before moving into hospitality, tourism, travel and events management. The course covers hospitality operations, customer service, finance, marketing, international destination management, events, digital marketing, technology, sustainability and strategic management.

About this course

This four-year, full-time blended degree includes a foundation year designed to help you prepare for degree-level study. It introduces academic skills, leadership, the business environment, future planning and investigation through an innovation project.

You will then develop knowledge of hospitality and tourism operations, managing people, finance, customer service, marketing, destination management and hospitality business development. The course considers both the operational side of the sector and the strategic decisions involved in running hospitality and tourism organisations.

Later study explores international events, digital and social media marketing, hospitality innovation, tourism crisis management, tourism trends and futures, global brand management and hospitality strategy. You will also complete independent study and a professional practice placement module. Topics in innovation include the use of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, guest experience personalisation and improving operational processes.

Assessment

Assessment may include reports, case studies, business and destination development plans, independent projects, podcasts, videos, infographics, consultancy reports, marketing campaigns, posters, interviews and debates.

Entry requirements

You will normally need a minimum of 45 Level 3 credits completed within the last three years, or an equivalent qualification.

If you do not meet this requirement, you may be considered with at least two years of professional work experience, evidenced by a CV and reference.

English language requirements

English language evidence may include IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no component below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 80 or equivalent; or evidence of previous study taught in English, such as a letter confirming English as the medium of instruction.
