BSc (Hons) Project Management with Foundation Year
This four-year, full-time blended BSc (Hons) Project Management degree includes a foundation year to help you prepare for university-level study. It covers project planning, agile and hybrid delivery, risk, quality, change control and project governance, alongside business, leadership and research skills. It may suit adults returning to education who want to develop structured project management knowledge for work across business, technical or operational settings.
About this course
This four-year blended degree combines a foundation year with a project management curriculum. It is designed to build academic confidence before moving into the methods, controls and leadership skills involved in planning and delivering projects.
You will explore how projects are justified, planned, governed and controlled, alongside procurement, financial control, contract management and operations management. Later study considers agile and hybrid approaches, project risk and issue management, quality management, change control, and the use of AI and big data analytics in project management.
The course also develops broader business capability through research, consulting, leadership, supply chain management and professional development. A final project gives you the opportunity to bring together your learning in a substantial piece of project-focused work.
What you will study
The foundation year covers preparing for university success, the business environment, academic skills, leadership, future planning and an investigation and innovation project.
Degree-level study includes business research methods and analysis, business consulting, procurement, financial control and contract management, and governance in a global business environment. You will also study introductory and advanced project management, project justification, project planning, agile and hybrid project management, AI and big data analytics in project management, project change and control, quality management, and project risk and issue management.
Additional topics include operations and supply chain management, digital and social media marketing, and developing people and capabilities. At Level 4, you may take either Digital Skills and Professional Development or Technology and Innovation as an elective. The course ends with a final project including an End Point Assessment.

Assessment
Assessment uses practical and applied tasks, including a live case study, project plans and strategies, independent study assessments, reflective analysis, portfolio work, narrated presentations, risk assessments, agile implementation proposals and case study reports. The final project includes an End Point Assessment.
Entry requirements
You will normally need at least 45 Level 3 credits completed within the last three years, or an equivalent qualification.
If you do not meet the qualification requirement, you may be considered if you have at least two years of professional work experience, supported by a CV and reference.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no element below 5.5.
Evidence of previous study in English may also be accepted, such as a letter confirming that English was the medium of instruction.
Careers
This degree may support progression into roles such as project assistant, project coordinator, project manager, project lead, implementation manager, change manager or project management consultant. With experience, it may also be relevant to programme, portfolio, technical project or business project leadership roles.
