BSc (Hons) Psychology
This BSc (Hons) Psychology degree is for students who want to understand human behaviour, mental health and the ways people think, feel and interact. It combines psychological theory with research training, including qualitative and quantitative methods, and may suit those considering further psychology study or work involving people, research or data.
About this course
This degree examines psychology as the scientific study of behaviour, thought and emotion. You will explore psychological theories alongside their application in professional and real-world contexts, building skills in scientific reasoning, critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making.
Teaching covers individual and group behaviour, mental health, personality, development, cognition and the relationship between the brain and behaviour. You will learn to plan, carry out and evaluate research using qualitative and quantitative approaches, including experiments, surveys and interviews. The course also introduces research software including SPSS and NVivo.
A three-year full-time route and a three-year online route are available. A four-year blended route with a foundation year is also available for students who would benefit from additional preparation before degree-level study.

The foundation year includes academic preparation through communication, digital and research skills, sustainability and society, skills for higher education, career development and a foundation-year project. It also introduces core concepts across psychology and related subject areas.

Assessment
Assessment methods include written assignments, research proposals, practical reports, video assignments, presentations, posters and multiple-choice questions.
Entry requirements
Typical entry requirements are BBC at A level, DMM in a BTEC qualification, or 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A levels or equivalent qualifications.
You will also need GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C/4 or above, or an equivalent qualification.
Careers
The course may support progression to postgraduate psychology training or roles in education, human resources, people management, marketing and data analytics.
