CertHE Health and Care Management
This CertHE Health and Care Management is an online, flexible part-time course that can be studied over one year or more. It covers the foundations of managing health and care services, including leadership, communication, safeguarding, health promotion and regulation. It may suit adults already working in health or care, as well as those looking to move towards management responsibilities in these sectors.
About this course
This online CertHE develops an understanding of how health and care services are managed, regulated and improved. It is designed for people who want to build management and leadership knowledge for work in health, social care or related services.
You will consider how services meet the needs of service users, promote health, and work safely and inclusively. The course also explores rights-based safeguarding, communication between professional groups, and the role of independent regulation in UK health and care.
Alongside subject knowledge, you will develop essential skills for health and care management, including communication, leadership and digital competencies. Flexible part-time study is available over one year or more.

Assessment
Assessment uses a range of practical and academic formats, including essays, presentations, academic posters, reports, case studies and podcasts.
Entry requirements
Applicants normally need passes in two GCE A Level subjects, or equivalent qualifications, plus GCSE passes at grade C or above in three subjects, or equivalent qualifications.
Applications may also be considered from applicants who can demonstrate significant skills and responsibility in a health and/or care role.
English language requirements
Applicants need IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 80; or an equivalent English language qualification.

This course may support progression into health service management, social care management, Registered Manager roles, health promotion and education, and public health initiatives. Opportunities may be found in the NHS, social care, private healthcare, and voluntary or not-for-profit organisations.
