Foundation Degree Health and Care Management (FdSc)
This two-year FdSc develops management and leadership knowledge for health and social care settings. It covers collaborative working, compassionate leadership, health innovation, digital health and sustainable practice. The course is available in blended study mode, with a full-time study option also available. It may suit adults with relevant qualifications or work experience who want to move towards management responsibilities in health and care.
About this course
This FdSc focuses on the management, leadership and organisational skills used across health and social care. It is designed for people who want to develop their understanding of how services are led, improved and delivered in collaborative, multidisciplinary settings.
You will explore health policy, emerging healthcare trends, innovation and sustainable business practice. The course also develops critical thinking, compassionate leadership and evidence-based approaches to decision-making.
Work-based learning is included through a Workplace Impact Project, helping you apply learning to a health or social care context. The course may suit those with relevant experience who are preparing for management responsibilities or looking to strengthen their professional practice.

Assessment
Assessment includes practical assessments.
Entry requirements
Standard entry requires a minimum of 60 credits from a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, such as GCSEs, A levels, BTECs, an Access to HE qualification or an equivalent. This must include at least 15 credits at Level 3. A current professional CV is also required.
Non-standard entry may be considered with two years of work experience in a relevant role, or relevant industry-specific experience or professional certificates. Some of this experience must have been completed within the last 12 months.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5, or an accepted equivalent qualification. Previous study completed in English may also be accepted.
Careers
The course may support progression into early management roles in health and social care settings, including Registered Manager positions.
