About this course

This two-year HND in Business develops a broad understanding of how organisations operate, compete and grow. It covers core business functions alongside management, finance, marketing, human resources and entrepreneurship.

You will explore how businesses respond to changing commercial conditions, develop strategies, manage people and teams, and use digital marketing to reach customers. The course also considers international business, organisational behaviour, innovation and the planning of business projects.

The programme may suit adults returning to education who want to build business knowledge for a range of operational, management, marketing or people-focused roles. It can also provide a basis for further study in a related business subject.

Assessment

Assessment may include presentations supported by observation records, reports and project reports, in-class and time-constrained assessments, work-based projects, professional discussions, interview or role-play recordings, logbooks and reflective journals, essays, and case-study analysis.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be aged 18 or over and normally hold a Level 3 qualification or an Access to Higher Education certificate. An academic interview is required.

Applicants aged 21 or over who do not meet the standard entry requirements may be considered if they can demonstrate willingness and commitment to studying the subject, together with relevant academic, professional or vocational experience.

English language requirements

Applicants need GCSE English at grade 4/C or CEFR level B2. Applicants who do not hold one of these qualifications can take a provided English test.

Careers

This course may support progression into areas including human resources and talent management, marketing and digital media, and business strategy and operations. Possible roles include HR assistant, recruitment coordinator, people and culture coordinator, marketing executive, digital marketing executive, strategic executive, supply chain analyst and management accountant.
