About this course
This two-year full-time HND develops technical and analytical skills for cyber security and digital technology work. It combines core computing areas such as programming, networking and security with cloud-based technologies, data analysis and professional practice.
You will examine how organisations use digital transformation, big data, business intelligence and emerging technologies. Cyber security topics include information security management, applied cryptography and applied security in cloud environments. The course also considers the Internet of Things, digital sustainability and the practical demands of working in the digital economy.
Work-based learning is included to help you apply technical knowledge to workplace-style tasks. The qualification may suit adults returning to education who want to build a broad foundation for further study or entry-level roles in cyber security, cloud, networking, software or data-focused areas.

Assessment
Assessment may include presentations with observation records, reports and project reports, in-class and time-constrained assessments, work-based projects, professional discussions, interview or role-play recordings, logbooks and reflective journals, assignments and essays, practical assessments, CAD drawings and specifications, and case-study analysis portfolios.
Entry requirements
Applicants must be aged 18 or over.
You will normally need a Level 3 qualification or an Access to Higher Education certificate, and must pass an academic interview.
If you are aged 21 or over and do not meet the standard entry requirements, you may be considered where you can demonstrate willingness and commitment, alongside relevant academic, professional or vocational experience.
English language requirements
English language proficiency at GCSE grade 4/C or CEFR B2 is required. Applicants without this qualification can take an English test.
