LLB (Hons) Law
This full-time LLB (Hons) Law degree covers the main areas of English law, including contract, public, EU, tort and criminal law. You can study over three years, or choose a four-year route that begins with a foundation year. The course combines legal theory with practical topics such as advocacy, dispute resolution, property practice and solicitors’ accounts.
About this course
This LLB (Hons) Law degree develops knowledge of the English legal system alongside key areas of public, private and criminal law. You will study how legal rules are made, interpreted and applied, and consider the relationship between UK and EU legal systems.
Core subjects include contract, tort, public and EU law, criminal law, trusts and succession. Later study also covers practical legal areas including solicitors’ accounts, business law and practice, property law, advocacy, criminal procedure and dispute resolution.
A foundation year route is available for students who would benefit from preparation before starting degree-level law study. It includes academic and study skills, digital skills, and personal and professional development for law. The degree is available full-time over four years with a foundation year, or three years without one.
The course includes a dissertation, allowing you to investigate a legal topic in depth. It may suit adults returning to education who want to build structured legal knowledge and research, writing, presentation and advocacy skills.

Assessment
Assessment methods include multiple-choice tests, coursework, research projects, presentations, written examinations and moots. You may also complete projects and a dissertation.
Entry requirements
Typical entry requirements are 96 UCAS Tariff points from three A levels, for example BCC.
Other accepted qualifications include: - Irish Leaving Certificate: BBCCC - Scottish Highers: BBCCC - BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: DMM in a business-related subject - International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points
You will also need at least three GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths.
International applicants may be considered with GCE A levels from a recognised UK examination board, an International Baccalaureate Diploma with at least 24 points, a university foundation course recognised by Anglia Ruskin University, or relevant qualifications gained in their home country.
Mature applicants may be able to demonstrate suitable relevant work experience.
English language requirements
IELTS 6.0 at Academic level, or an equivalent English language qualification recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
Careers
The course may support progression into legal and related roles such as solicitor, barrister, paralegal, chartered legal executive, barrister’s clerk, company secretary or patent attorney. It may also be relevant to work in banking, commerce, government, the Civil Service, human resources or data analysis.
