LLB International Law
This LLB International Law degree combines the core subjects of English law with the study of legal issues across borders and legal systems. It may suit students interested in international public or commercial law, human rights, criminal law, or legal work connected with government, politics and business.
About this course
This LLB International Law degree examines how law operates across national borders and within different legal systems. Alongside the foundations of English law, you will consider public and EU law, contract law, criminal law, land law and tort.
As the course develops, the focus moves towards international and comparative legal issues. You will study human rights, civil legal systems, equity and trusts, international commercial law, international public law and international criminal law. This provides a basis for understanding legal questions involving states, organisations, businesses and individuals in a global context.
You will build practical academic skills in legal research, analysis, problem solving and communication. The course also includes legal method, civil dispute resolution, law and society, and graduate employability skills. A four-year route with a Foundation Year is available for students who would benefit from an additional preparatory year.
What you will study
The Foundation Year covers communication, digital and research skills, sustainability and society, and a Foundation Year Project. You will also study core concepts in law, business, computer science, criminology and psychology, alongside skills for academic success.
The LLB includes Legal Method and Skills, Public and EU Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Land Law and Tort. Further areas include Human Rights, Law in a Global Context, Civil Legal Systems, Equity and Trusts, International Commercial Law, International Public Law and International Criminal Law.
Additional study includes critical approaches to current legal issues, civil dispute resolution, law and society, AI literacy for future professionals, and academic, career and employability skills.

Assessment
Assessment may include exams, a project report, essays, a portfolio, oral presentations and mock assessments.
Entry requirements
Typical entry requirements are A levels at BBB, a BTEC qualification at DDM, or 120 UCAS Tariff points from three A levels or an equivalent qualification. GCSE English Language at grade C/4 or above, or an equivalent qualification, is also required.
