About this course

This LLM examines the legal and regulatory framework surrounding banking and debt finance, with a focus on applying complex rules to practical financial-sector problems. It is suited to law graduates and professionals who want to develop specialist knowledge of banking relationships, lending, financial regulation and debt transactions.

You will consider the regulation and supervision of banks, risk management and international banking standards developed by the Basel Committee. The course also explores UK banking regulation in the period following the 2007–2009 financial crisis, alongside the relationship between banks and their customers under English law.

The programme covers debt finance and derivative transactions, as well as legal technology and research methods. You will complete independent dissertation research in Banking and Debt Finance. Study is available full-time, part-time or online.

Assessment

Assessment includes a three-hour unseen written examination, a 4,500-word coursework assignment and a thesis.
