LLM ESG Law and Regulation
This LLM is for graduates who want to develop specialist knowledge of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) law and regulation. It covers ESG reporting and disclosures, green finance, corporate governance, compliance and sustainability, alongside research training and an extended dissertation.
About this course
This LLM examines the legal and regulatory issues surrounding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) responsibilities. It considers how organisations respond to ESG requirements through governance, reporting, compliance and decision-making.
You will explore recent developments in ESG law, including disclosures and reporting, green finance and the regulatory considerations affecting businesses and other organisations. The course also places ESG within wider discussions of sustainability, legal ethics, economics, politics and legal technology.
Research methods training supports you in developing an independent research project. The dissertation allows you to investigate a focused issue in ESG law and regulation in depth.
The course is available full-time, part-time and online.

Assessment
Assessment includes a three-hour unseen written examination, a 4,500-word coursework assignment and a 15,000-word thesis submission.
Entry requirements
A minimum second-class honours degree is required.
Careers
The course may support progression into roles such as compliance officer, sustainability consultant, ESG legal adviser, corporate social responsibility (CSR) manager, policy analyst or environmental law specialist. It may also be relevant to work in corporate governance, ESG compliance and sustainability.
