About this course

This LLM focuses on the legal principles and contractual issues that shape insurance arrangements. You will examine how insurance contracts are formed, interpreted and applied, alongside specialist areas of insurance law.

The course covers insurable interest, the duty of fair representation of risk and the role of insurance brokers. It also provides grounding in the English legal system, research methods and legal technology.

A substantial dissertation in insurance law allows you to investigate a chosen issue in depth and develop advanced legal research and written analysis skills. Study is available full-time, part-time or online.

What you will study

Core study includes:

• Insurance Law: general principles of insurance law, specialised insurance contracts, contract formation and contract terms, insurable interest, fair representation of risk, and the role of insurance brokers. • Research Methods Training: legal research methods, the English legal system and legal technology. • Dissertation in Insurance Law: an extended research project on an insurance law topic.
