LLM International Business Law

About this course
International business transactions involve legal questions across trade, sales, transport, finance, insurance and digital commerce. This LLM examines the legal frameworks used to govern these activities, including how parties manage contractual obligations, risk, payment, cargo movement and disputes across jurisdictions.
You will consider international sales law and trade rules alongside the development of electronic transactions and legal technology. The course also addresses harmonisation in international commercial law, choice of law, security issues and dispute resolution. A dissertation allows you to investigate an international business law topic in depth, supported by research methods training.

What you will study
Core study includes International Trade Law and a dissertation, with research methods training. Elective modules provide further opportunities to tailor your study.
Topics include international business law; international sales of goods; e-commerce; financing and insurance; and the transportation of cargo. You will examine the 1980 Convention on the International Sale of Goods, INCOTERMS and the UNCITRAL Model Law on E-Commerce. Further areas include electronic transactions, security issues, letters of credit, choice of law, harmonisation, dispute resolution and legal technology.

Assessment
