LLM International Commercial Law
This LLM examines the legal framework for international commercial activity, with particular attention to sale of goods, supply chains and cross-border transactions. About this course
This LLM focuses on the legal issues that arise when goods, services and commercial relationships cross national borders. It is suited to law graduates and professionals who want to develop a more detailed understanding of international trade, supply-chain arrangements and commercial dispute resolution.
You will examine domestic and international sale of goods law, including standard terms, compliance, risk management, retention of title and exclusion of liability. The course also considers agency agreements and the legal frameworks used in cross-border transactions, including shipment terms such as CIF and FOB.
Alongside international commercial law, you will develop legal research skills and complete a substantial dissertation in an area of international commercial law. Study includes the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods, UNCITRAL Model Law, the New York Convention, international commercial arbitration and the use of legal technology in research.

You will also consider harmonisation and uniform law initiatives, CIF and FOB shipment terms under the law of England and Wales, the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods, the UNCITRAL Model Law, the New York Convention, international commercial arbitration and legal technology.

Assessment
Assessment includes a three-hour unseen written examination, a 4,500-word coursework assignment and a 15,000-word thesis.

A minimum second-class honours degree is required.
