LLM Professional Legal Practice (SQE1 and SQE2)
This online LLM is for graduates seeking structured preparation for SQE1 and SQE2 alongside postgraduate study in professional legal practice. It covers core areas of English law, legal practice subjects, legal skills and independent research. You can study full-time over one year or part-time over two years.
About this course
This online LLM combines postgraduate legal study with preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE1 and SQE2). It is designed for graduates who want to build knowledge of the core areas of English law and develop the practical skills assessed through the SQE route.
You will study subjects including public law, legal services, tort, contract, business law, criminal law, land law, trusts and family law. Practical legal work is developed through legal skills in context, covering areas such as research, drafting and applying legal knowledge to professional scenarios.
The course also includes independent research through a research project and legal practice research report. It is available online over one year full-time or two years part-time, which may suit students balancing study with work or other commitments.

Assessment
Assessment includes multiple-choice examinations, timed written examinations, presentations, coursework assignments, an e-portfolio of legal skills, a research project and a legal practice research report.
Entry requirements
Applicants need an undergraduate degree at a minimum of 2:1, or an equivalent qualification, from a recognised university.
Exemptions may be available for other prior qualifications, subject to applicable APCL regulations.
English language requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English need IELTS 6.5 overall, with no component below 6.0, or an equivalent qualification. Evidence of previous study taught in English, such as a letter confirming English as the medium of instruction, may also be accepted.
Careers
The course may support progression towards qualification as a solicitor, subject to meeting the relevant professional and regulatory requirements. It may also be relevant to legal practitioner roles and other positions in the legal sector.
