Master of Public Health
This Master of Public Health is designed for people who want to develop advanced knowledge of population health, prevention, health policy and public health research. It may suit graduates from clinical or allied health backgrounds, health studies, health psychology, biomedical sciences, nutrition and related disciplines, as well as applicants with relevant professional experience. Study is available through blended learning over one year or online over one year or longer.
About this course
This Master of Public Health examines how health outcomes are shaped across populations, and how prevention, policy, research and service management can be used to address public health challenges. It covers communicable and non-communicable diseases, health promotion, epidemiology, preventive services and healthcare delivery.
You will consider the relationship between public health policy, management and leadership, including gender, sexual and reproductive health. The course also develops digital and data-focused approaches to public health, with attention to healthcare data analytics, digital literacy and analytical research skills.
Research methods and a substantial research project allow you to investigate a public health topic in depth. The course is available through blended learning over one year, or online over one year or longer.

Assessment
Assessment includes case studies, health journal article and report writing, policy briefs and media updates, a digital health service management portfolio, an individual presentation and a digital poster presentation.
Entry requirements
Standard entry requires a bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification, at 2:2 or above in clinical health, allied health sciences, health studies, health psychology, or a relevant scientific discipline such as biomedical sciences or nutrition.
You will also need a maths qualification equivalent to at least GCSE Grade C.
If you do not meet the formal academic requirements, relevant work experience in clinical health, allied health science or health studies may be considered. Where you do not hold the required maths qualification, professional experience involving statistical modelling or analysis, data entry, or mathematical modelling or budgeting may be considered.
English language requirements
For online learning, applicants need IELTS 6.5 overall, with no element below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 90; or an equivalent qualification.
For blended learning, applicants need IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 60–78; or an equivalent qualification.
Evidence of previous study in English may be accepted, including a letter confirming English as the medium of instruction. UK visa applicants require IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5, or an equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) result.
