MSc Accounting and Financial Management
This MSc is for graduates who want to build advanced knowledge of accounting, finance and financial management. It covers corporate reporting, budgeting, valuation, taxation, audit, investment and risk management, with attention to ethics, regulation and sustainable financial practices.
About this course
This MSc develops advanced knowledge of accounting and financial management, combining core financial theory with practical analysis and decision-making. You will examine financial statements, company valuation, corporate reporting, budgeting, corporate finance, taxation, audit and assurance, and investment management.
The course also considers the regulatory and ethical context of financial work. Topics include corporate governance, auditors’ responsibilities, the UK tax system, sustainability, climate change, integrated reporting, carbon accounting and lean accounting.
A major project provides an opportunity to investigate an accounting or finance issue in depth. The course is available full-time over one year or part-time over two years.

Assessment
Assessment may include written coursework, oral presentations, examinations, in-class tests, online quizzes, practical projects and reflective work. You will also complete a postgraduate major project or dissertation in accounting and finance.
Entry requirements
Applicants should normally have a UK honours degree with at least a lower second-class (2:2) classification. A UK first degree equivalent at 2:2 or above, together with relevant experience, may also be considered.
Qualifications gained outside the UK may be considered against the relevant country-specific entry requirements.
English language requirements
Applicants need to show that they have previously studied in English and have sufficient English language ability for postgraduate study. An IELTS score of 6.5 or an equivalent qualification is accepted.
