About this course
This MSc Cyber Security develops technical and managerial understanding of how to protect systems, networks, applications and digital services. It covers security planning, secure design, offensive security techniques and the investigation and management of cyber incidents.
You will study network security, cloud and web services security, and the security vulnerabilities that can affect organisations. The course also considers mitigations, network vulnerability and risk assessment, and the OWASP Top 10 guidelines for common web application security risks.
The course includes digital forensics, ethical hacking and penetration testing, alongside an Advanced Computing Project. It may suit computing or IT graduates, as well as experienced professionals looking to build specialist cyber security knowledge. Blended study is available over one year, with an online study option available over one year or more.

Assessment
Assessment is portfolio-based and includes an Advanced Computing Project.
Entry requirements
Standard entry requires a 2:2 honours degree in a computing-related subject.
Applicants with an equivalent 2:2 honours degree may be considered with at least 18 months of relevant computing work experience.
Typical non-standard entry requires a minimum of three years' relevant experience in a computing or IT role.
English language requirements
For online learning, the requirement is IELTS 6.5, with no element below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 90; or an equivalent qualification.
For blended learning, the requirement is IELTS 6.0, with no element below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 60–78; or an equivalent qualification.
Evidence of previous study in English may be accepted, including a letter confirming English as the medium of instruction.
Where a UK visa is required, applicants need IELTS 6.0, with no element below 5.5, or an equivalent Secure English Language Test result.
