MSc Digital Cybercrime

MSc Digital Cybercrime is a postgraduate course combining criminology, criminal justice, digital forensics and computer science to examine crime in online and technology-based settings. It may suit graduates from any subject who want to develop an understanding of cybercrime, digital investigation, artificial intelligence and the use of digital evidence.

About this course

This MSc examines cybercrime through criminology, criminal justice, computer science and digital forensics. It considers how offending, investigation and evidence have changed in digital environments, alongside the legal and social issues raised by technology-enabled crime.

You will explore cyber forensic investigation and digital intelligence, including the handling and interpretation of digital evidence. The course also considers relevant legal and regulatory areas, such as the Computer Misuse Act and data protection.

A further focus is the role of artificial intelligence in cybercrime. Topics include deepfakes, fraud and phishing, and the detection of fake news and disinformation. The course is available on a full-time or part-time basis and includes a substantial final dissertation or computer science project.

Assessment

Assessment methods include portfolios, coursework, presentations, blogs or vlogs, project reports and project artefacts. You will also complete research methods assessments.

Entry requirements

An undergraduate degree in any subject at 2:2 or above, or equivalent qualifications.

English language requirements

English language ability equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above, with at least 5.5 in each component.
