About this course
This MSc explores how hospitality organisations can develop and compete in an international market. It brings together strategic planning, customer service, marketing, finance and people management, with attention to the influence of technology, new media and changing tourism markets.
You will consider how online booking systems, mobile apps and management information systems affect hospitality operations and customer expectations. The course also develops evidence-based reflective practice, research, reporting and analytical skills through research methodologies, case study work and an independent dissertation.
The course is studied full-time over one year. It may suit graduates from any subject who want to build management knowledge for hospitality and tourism settings, including those returning to study after work or a break from education.
What you will study
Topics include the strategic development of hospitality businesses; customer focus and service quality; creative thinking, new media and technology; and information and communication technology, including online booking and mobile apps.
You will study Accounting and Decision Making Techniques, Business Environment, Information Technology and Management Information Systems, Marketing Management, Managing Human Capital, and Financial Analysis & Management. The course also covers Contextualising International Hospitality Management, Tourism and Hospitality Strategy in the Global Market Place, Research Methodologies, and Current Issues in International Tourism and Hospitality.
The final stage includes a Dissertation, Integrated Case Study Analysis and Business Development Proposal.

Assessment
Assessment includes a dissertation, an integrated case study analysis and a business development proposal.
Entry requirements
Applicants need a minimum 2:2 degree in any discipline. An application form and two references are also required: one academic reference and one work-based reference.
English language requirements
An overall IELTS score of 6.0 is required, with at least 5.5 in each component, or an equivalent recognised English language qualification.
