MSc Public Health and Community Wellbeing
This one-year, full-time MSc explores public health and community wellbeing through the study of prevention, population health, health inequalities and the determinants of health. It may suit graduates who want to build research, data analysis, policy evaluation and project management skills for work related to public health, health improvement or community-focused services.
About this course
This MSc examines how health and wellbeing are shaped across communities and populations. It considers prevention, health promotion and the social, economic, environmental and structural factors that influence health outcomes. You will explore health inequalities, equity and inclusion, alongside national and global health systems.
The course develops the ability to interpret population health data, use epidemiological approaches and undertake community-engaged research. It also considers how digital health, artificial intelligence and communication can be used to support equitable health and wellbeing initiatives.
A focus on evidence-based interventions, policy evaluation, leadership and project management helps you apply public health knowledge to practical challenges. The applied research project provides an opportunity to investigate a public health or community wellbeing issue in depth.

Assessment
Assessment is through coursework, written assignments, reports, presentations, case study analysis, digital outputs and a reflective portfolio. You will also complete an applied research project in public health and community wellbeing.
Entry requirements
A second-class honours degree (2:2) or above in a relevant subject or related discipline is required.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and entry with advanced standing may be considered under the applicable regulations.
English language requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency in line with the course admissions requirements.
