This MSc is for people who want to develop strategic and practical digital marketing knowledge. It covers digital brands, marketing communications, customer and user experience, social media, data analytics and marketing technology. It may suit marketing professionals seeking to move into more senior digital roles, as well as career changers with relevant academic or managerial experience.

About this course

This MSc examines how marketing strategy changes in a digital environment. You will consider the marketing environment and digitisation, then use data, analytics and marketing technology to inform decisions about audiences, channels, brands and customer experiences.

The course combines strategic planning with practical digital marketing activity. Topics include brand building, marketing communications, social media, SEO, digital advertising, email marketing, website analytics and customer journey mapping. You will also explore the use of artificial intelligence, big data and Martech in marketing.

A final Digital Transformation Project provides the opportunity to bring together strategic and practical learning in a substantial capstone project. The course is available through blended study over one year, or online over one year or longer.

Assessment

Assessment is through coursework.

Entry requirements

Applicants normally need a UK bachelor’s degree with at least a 2:2 classification, or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants with an HND, HNC or DipHE may be considered where they have three to four years of strong professional work experience, including evidence of managerial or supervisory responsibilities.

Applicants without formal qualifications may be considered if they have at least five years of relevant managerial experience in any discipline.

English language requirements

For online learning: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no element below 6.0; TOEFL iBT 90; or an equivalent qualification.

For blended learning: IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 60–78; or an equivalent qualification.

Evidence of previous study in English may be accepted, including a letter confirming that English was the medium of instruction. Students who require a study visa need IELTS 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5, or an equivalent Secure English Language Test result.
